Less is More.
As October comes to an end and the temperature begins to drop… I wanted to show you guys how I styled this vintage dress I found at a thrift store in my hometown. While styling, comfort was my main priority. Since it has been sort of chilly with the sun making occasional appearances, I wanted to be somewhat warm. While searching the racks at the good will, the olive-green color caught my eye immediately. I remember Kayla saying, “Doesn’t your mom have a dress like that?” It was at that very moment, I realized I had found a gem for only $3.75. This sleeveless dress falls just above my ankles, it is flowy and has a keyhole neckline detail in the back. At first, I thought about how I could style this dress for spring or summer, since it was purchased while we were still waiting on spring to arrive… Fall was nowhere near my mind at that time. I honestly forgot I had it until recently - I quickly realized how easy it could be to transition into the colder months.
Sometimes less is “more”, especially in this case.
I really wanted to let the pattern on the dress speak for itself, while adding minimal garments to create two simple looks.
When styling, do not overthink. Simplicity can go a long way.
In the first look, I styled this dress with a simple rib-knit white turtleneck sweater from H&M, my thrifted oversized jean jacket, tan vintage Nine West bag and Stan Smiths. In the second look, I wore this dress with a relaxed-fit turtleneck sweater from H&M to add texture and warmth for a chiller day. I kept the same bag and sneakers.
Both combos are perfect, for running errands, grabbing food with friends or a Saturday morning walk along the High Line.
I will personally be taking a trip to Trader Joe’s to restock on all things pumpkin spice and then wondering around the Upper East Side.
Continue to wash your hands and masks. Be safe.
